A Brief History: Ty began producing Buddies in 1998 in the height of the Beanie Baby craze. Collector's couldn't always afford Beanie Babies because demand had caused prices to skyrocket in the second hand market. To solve the problem (and capitalize on it 😉) Ty introduced Buddies as larger versions of the traditional Beanie Babies. Ty has since morphed the product line, and now only produces licensed buddies such as movie or TV show characters.
